ADRA Appeal
The ADRA Appeal doorknock for 2008 has now finished. However, you can donate to ADRA at any time - see below for details.

The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) is a community service of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

ADRA works with people regardless of any ethnic, political, racial, or religious association to relieve their suffering, empowering them and their communities to develop their full potential.

ADRA is approved by the United Nations and 120 nations worldwide as a professional non-sectarian development and relief agency.

Every year the ADRA worldwide network implements more than 2,000 projects to a value in excess of $300 million in 155 countries assisting more than 19 million of the world's poor and needy.

ADRA is externally audited on an annual basis. (Audited statements available on request from ADRA)

ADRA may operate some programs under the identification names of 'AdCare' or 'Adventist Community Services' or 'ADRACare' in parts of Australia and New Zealand.

Donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.

ADRACare Cabramatta

Pictured at left is the Cabramatta ADRACare Centre in Sydney.  Standing left of the doorway is David Haupt, Director of the centre.

The Cabrammata ADRACare Centre provides:

          referral and support counselling
          referral to detox and rehabilitation
          ongoing friendship support
          a friendly coffee-lounge-style environment
(a place to stop in when feeling lonely)
seminars and group processes for personal development
(a way to freedom and self-help)
          grief counselling
information and referral for crisis accomodation

At least 25% of all ADRA Appeal donations go to projects in Australia.  The Cabramatta ADRACare Centre is good example of such a project.
