Creative Activities was started at Thornleigh in 1988 by Judy Wicks. From the start it has been staffed  by voluntary teachers from our church and from other Christian Churches. Most of the teachers are highly  skilled in the subjects they teach, and without their voluntary service we could not continue.

The group does not only provide a chance to learn a creative skill but also a chance to meet and talk  with people socially. It caters mainly to young mums who enjoy the chance to relax while their children  are cared for, and for older ladies who do not have many opportunities to have social contacts. The talk  is just as important as the finger skills, though some very beautiful work is produced by the students.

The kitchen is staffed by volunteers who provide drinks and sandwiches, etc., at a small charge. Fees are  $15 for each 8 week term. Classes in Folk Art, Pen & wash pictures, patchwork, smocking, crochet and  needle work as well as mixed crafts are currently being run.
