Recipe - Marinated Tofu

Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, this Marinated Tofu is packed with bold flavours from garlic, ginger, and a touch of spice. It's proof that tofu doesn't have to be bland, making it a tasty and approachable choice for anyone trying tofu for the first time.
Ingredients
Serves 4-6
- 1 Tbsp. Tamari soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp. honey
- 2 Tsp. garlic paste
- 1 Tsp ginger paste
- 1 Tbsp. sesame oil
- 1/4 Tsp. sriracha sauce
- 300g form tofu
- 1 Tsp. rice bran oil (or other light neutral oil)
- 1 Tbsp. sesame seeds
- 1 Tbsp. chopped spring onion greens
- 1/4 red chili, finely sliced
Method
- Place the Tamari, honey, garlic, ginger, sesame oil and sriracha sauce into a shallow bowl. Mix well using a fork.
- Cut the tofu into 2cm x 4cm chunks
- Add the tofu to the marinade, ensuring it is well coated. Cover and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Heat the rice bran oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat .
- Remove the tofu pieces from the marinade (reserving the marinade) and fry until golden brown on all sides.
- Pour the remaining marinade into the pan and simmer gently for 1-2 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly and coat the tofu.
- Serve the tofu hot, garnished with sesame seeds, chopped spring onion greens, and finely sliced red chili.

- This recipe is suitable for vegetarians and vegans
- Tofu is a bland-flavored soybean curd. it comes in varying different textures, based on how much water they contain. Silken tofu has the highest water content and is very delicate and creamy. firm tofu has less water and is much easier to cut into shapes and fry. Make sure that you choose a firm tofu for this recipe.
- Tamari and soy sauce are both made from fermented soybeans and can be interchanged. Tamari has a longer fermentation process and tends to have a more mellow and less salty taste than standard soy sauce.
- Sriracha is a popular brand of medium hot chili sauce which is readily available in most supermarkets.
